Lights Out

Today, the lights went out.

Almost 15 months ago the company that makes the system that gasexchange runs on announced a change in their business plan that made our future uncertain. To their credit StackExchange LLC/Inc has generously provided gasexchange with almost a year of hosting beyond their original deadline, and for this we are grateful.

Sadly, that extension ran out today and gasexchange has been shutdown.

Our active and growing community of specialists was still too small for the goals of StackExchange Inc.

The big question for us is where to from here? We are hopeful that while immediately painful, the change forced upon us will bring greater opportunities and reduce our dependence on third parties. Nonetheless, we now have a dark site, a database backup and a lot of work ahead of us.

The coming months will bring an answer…
